Round the Island Race 28 June-1 July 2012

 

The Round the Island Race is a one-day yacht race clockwise around the Isle of Wight. It attracts over 1,700 boats and around 16,000 sailors, making it one of the biggest yachting events in the world.  Hightide Sailing & Racing offers you the chance to be part of this famous event in our classic racing yacht, Extrapolation, a Ron Holland designed Swan 371.

Hightide Sailing & Racing’s Round the Island Race Programme:

Thursday:

  • By 1900: join Extrapolation at Haslar Marina.  Initial safety brief.
  • On completion: Dinner ashore

Friday:

  • 0800: Breakfast on board.  Full yacht brief.
  • 0930: Slip for yacht familiarisation sailing in Solent.
  • 1230ish: Lunch on board.
  • 1300: Race training in preparation for the Round the Island Race.  Weather permitting, this will include the use of a spinnaker.
  • 1800: Alongside in a marina at Cowes or the Hamble.
  • 1930: Dinner ashore. Early night is recommended as the start time is not late the following day!

Saturday:

  • Day of the Round the Island Race.  Up early!
  • Start time at the Royal Yacht Squadron line is around 0720.
  • Breakfast and lunch on board with snacks/soft drinks/water available.
  • When we finish (!), in to Cowes where there is some celebratory activity amongst which is dinner.

On Sunday:

  • Slow time rise and breakfast.
  • Sail in the Solent returning to Haslar to be away by 15o0

Breakfast/lunch on board is included, as are crew shirt, racing insurance, fuel, moorings, gas and accommodation for the three nights. Waterproofs can be supplied if required at no extra charge. Dinner on the three evernings is not included, we can recommend/book restaurants for you if you wish. The price per person is £395, or £2,300 for a maximum of 6 clients taking the whole yacht.
