For RYA Courses and Cruises in Torpoint

Hightide Sailing School is based at Torpoint Yacht Harbour, just across the Tamar River from Plymouth in Cornwall.

By Road:  From the A38 driving westward, either enter Plymouth city and follow the signs for the Torpoint Ferry.  Board the ferry (watch out for the traffic signals - there are two sets and they can be confusing!).  There is no charge to come into Cornwall - you are charged £1 to leave!  On leaving the ferry, take the first left turn just before the hill (Marine Drive).  The Yacht Harbour is approx 300 metres on the left.  Alternatively, continue on the A38 past the city and over the Tamar suspension bridge (free entering, £1 to leave, owned by the ferry company!  No fools these Cornish!).  Carry on for approx 11 miles to Trerulefoot Roundabout.  Take the first exit from here (signposted Torpoint).  On reaching the town (approx 8 miles), carry on down the hill towards the ferry and take the last turn on the right just before the ferry lanes (Marine Drive).  Yacht Harbour is 300 metres on the left.  Amazingly, in peak periods with ferry queues (especially summer), this route is faster even though it is 20 miles longer!

By Public Transport:  By rail, take a taxi or bus from the station to the Torpoint Ferry.  By air (Air South West is the carrier from London), take a taxi from the airport to the Ferry.  Board as a foot passenger (no charge either way) and on leaving, proceed on foot to the Yacht Harbour.
